July --- Daylily Daylilies surround the house and garden, growing wild like weeds; their bright colors fill the yard. This daylily bursts off the page. Once again this is a scan of a small original quilt, printed onto fabric, then quilted and bound with border accents. April through July has been an exciting time, as I photographed wildflowers, each quilt seeming to show a narrower focus as I spent time really studying my subjects. It has been a journey I may not have begun without the Journal Quilt project The original quilt was perhaps the most striking of them all, a very close-up view of the daylily, rendered in detail. It is much more vibrant than anything I was able to reproduce as a print. |
