Mont St. Michel
In 1977 or '78 I visited Mont St Michel and took a photograph of the cloisters which I think has been a big influence on my work ever since. This small quilt was my first attempt to actually replicate the photo in fabric. It was completed as part of an on-line challenge to create a small quiltlet with the theme "Light and Shadow" Completed December 20, 2000 |

Sunset In this one I was trying to give the impression of a spectacular sunset on an expanse of water. The mountains are low contrast, as if seen indistinctly at twilight. The very narrow border picks up the colors of the central motif. Completed December 2000 |

| Lake View Size: 8" x 10" © 1998 by Susan Brittingham Another small landscape, also completed in December of 1998. Students in my landscape classes seem to enjoy working with this scene. The trees in the foreground give it depth. |

| Moonlight on Northern Mountains Size 10w" x 8h", framed 11w" by 14h" © 1998 by Susan Brittingham Another favorite of mine, I particularly like the sky and the reflected moonlight in this picture. I reframed this piece, adding a cream colored double mat so now it measures about 11" x 14" framed and looked even better. |
